Abstract

Introduction: Forensic dentistry is application of dental knowledge in criminal and civil.
Materials and Methods: A questionnaire study was conducted among 133 Policemen of Mahasamund to assess their knowledge of Forensic Dentistry. Data was analyzed using SPSS software version 18.0.
Results: 83.50% knew that Forensic Science was useful in solving legal cases. 36.10% participants had knowledge that Forensic Odontology is useful for Age determination, D.N.A. analysis and Bite Marks. Police Personnel who had greater than 10 years’ experience had more knowledge of Forensic Dentistry. (P value < 0 xss=removed> Conclusion: This study revealed that most of the Police Personnel had inadequate knowledge about Forensic Dentistry. A sound knowledge on Forensic Dentistry and their practical applications in crime scenes are essential for Police Personnel to provide timely justice to one and all.
